The Nature Recovery Network map identifies where land falls within the priority areas for nature recovery identified within the Local Nature Recovery Strategy and other nature recovery documents. Biodiversity offsetting sites within these priority areas are considered areas of “strategic significance” and score more highly in the Defra Biodiversity Metric.
The interactive map also shows the locations of Biodiversity Offsetting Sites (Habitat Banks). These can be overlaid with and compared to the Nature Recovery Network Maps. By identifying these locations, it will help funds from Biodiversity Net Gain deliver the most for nature recovery and benefit landowners and developers.
